The [insert long list of explicatives my kids shouldn’t read here] flywheel is finally off the [insert remaining explicatives my kids shouldn’t read here] boat. With one last mighty swing of my hammer the the part exhibited a perfect translation of potential to kinetic energy as it flew off the shaft at 7:02pm last evening. What ensued was much joyful swearing and some dancing in the garage I’m hoping the neighbors didn’t see. It’s a good thing my kids were both at practice.

But with the flywheel off, the stator plate removal was duck soup. The parts have now been ordered, and repair is imminent. In theory, it should run. And by “theory”, I mean my half-assed guess. It’s reasonably likely that sometime between now and Memorial day I’ll drag the thing out into the driveway and drain the battery dry while the engine spins without starting… just to spite me. But if, just maybe if, it should start… there will be dancing… in full view of the neighbors. You have been warned.
