Syfy?

I’ll take “What Were They Thinking?” for $400 Alex.

The basic cable brand that renamed itself after a venereal disease.

Ummm… what is SciFi?

That’s right kids, that venerable staple of geek-dom, the SciFi Channel, has inexplicably opted to rename itself “Syfy.” Ostensibly this was done because they couldn’t trademark “SciFi” as it’s already a literature and film genre. However, I suspect sinister aliens have invaded corporate headquarters and this is all part of the master plan to bring down the network because they kept predisclosing the alien’s galactic battle plans during prime time.

In the spirit of the genre they are trying hard to be just like but not named after, Syfy (looks like it should be pronounced “siffy”) should start by allowing the genetically reconstituted dinosaurs eat all the irony impaired lawyers and marketing goons who convinced them to further embarrass themselves by slapping on the “Imagine Greater” tag line to a trademark name about which they clearly did not.
